This example itinerary allows you to see all the highlights of the North and South Islands of New Zealand on a 14 day self-drive tour.

What To Expect
The couple had 14 days to travel from Atlanta to New Zealand and really wanted to spend that time meandering whilst self-driving in New Zealand. We had a great time handcrafting this trip for them and they returned as repeat clients for us to design them a trip to Australia.

Sample Itinerary
Day 1 - Departure Day
Depart your home city to Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles or Houston for your connecting flight to Auckland New Zealand.
Day 2 - Travel Day
Travel day due to time zones.
Day 3 - Arrive Queenstown, New Zealand
On arrival at Auckland International Airport, you will be met by your private driver and transferred to your hotel.
You will receive a welcome call from a team member from your New Zealand Honeymoon Specialists.
Day 4 - Auckland
Today, enjoy a small group full day Maori Tour of Auckland and its surrounds.
This evening you will enjoy a Harbour Dinner Cruise.
Day 5 - Hobbiton
This morning collect your hire car from the downtown depot and commence your journey to Hobbiton.
At Hobbiton, experience the real Middle-earth with a visit to the Hobbiton Movie Set, the bucolic setting for The Shire that featured in the Peter Jackson directed films, The Lord of the Rings.
Upon completion of this tour, you will then continue your self-drive to Rotorua to your accommodation.
This evening you will be collected from your hotel and taken for an Indigenous Evening Experience where you will enjoy a traditional Maori Hangi.
Day 6 - Christchurch
Today make your own way to Rotorua Airport and drop your hire car off then check in for your flight to Christchurch.
Upon arrival at Christchurch Airport, you will be met by your private transfer driver and transferred to your city hotel.
Day 7 - Franz Josef
This morning you will be collected by your private transfer driver and taken to the train station to join the famous Tranz Alpine train over to Greymouth.
Upon arrival at Greymouth Train Station collect your rental car and continue driving to Franz Josef for your overnight stay.
Day 8 - Wanaka
This morning rise early for your drive to Wanaka. Enjoy the amazing scenery on your way.
Day 9 - Wanaka
Today enjoy a lazy day in Wanaka or even enjoy a round of Golf.
Day 10 - Te Anau
This morning commence your drive to Te Anau. After checking into your hotel you will then join your evening tour of the Glowworm caves.
Day 11 - Doubtful Sound
Today you will commence your wonderful overnight cruise on Doubtful Sound to see the beautiful Fjords that this region is famous for.
Day 12 - Queenstown
Upon returning to Te Anau after your cruise please collect your hire car and luggage and make your way to Queenstown. Upon arrival in Queenstown drop your hire car off at the city depot.
Day 13 - Queenstown
This morning enjoy some free time to familiarize yourself with Queenstown. This afternoon you will be collected from your hotel to enjoy a small-group wine tour of this region.

Day 14 - Waitomo To Auckland
Today check out of your hotel before being transferred to Queenstown Airport for your flight to Auckland and then onward to North America.
If you have an on-wards connection today… i.e Miami, Chicago, Boston, New York, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Toronto then please ask the airline in New Zealand to check your luggage right through. When you arrive in San Francisco, Vancouver, Houston, or Los Angeles you will just need to collect your luggage and clear immigration and customs before putting your luggage back on the transfer belt or trolley.
